15 Weeks and We Know the Baby's Gender!

This is a 4D ultrasound image of the baby. They are called 3D and 4D, but 4D is just 3D with the use of orange coloring to make it look more realistic. The baby's head has placenta blocking part of it from this angle, so it looks like hair or perhaps a nice palm frond. We were able to find out the gender within the first 5 minutes, and the last 10 minutes was really just watching the baby move and dance in the 3D view.

The baby kept swinging its arms up to its mouth and back. At one point, we saw the baby punch its fist out. I obviously couldn't feel that. I have been feeling the baby move for over a week now. Seeing it move so much confirmed my guesses about the new sensations.

The baby movements feel like electrical shocks popping inside. I don't really feel flutters or inner brushings like many women describe. It just feels electrical to me. Technically, I still don't really feel like a baby is in there. Seeing the 3D made it so much more real. Knowing the gender has given my husband and I many happy thoughts.

We went out and bought alphabet letters in wood to spell the baby's name in the nursery. I'm painting the letters dark brown. The letters will be inside a frame. Behind the letters it'll be cream colored and have green stenciled leaves to match the baby crib set. HERE's a link to the crib set.  I've already done one coat on the letters and the background. Stenciling will be last.

Finding out the gender was such a big moment for us, and I'm so glad we know now. I know who is inside of my belly, and I can look at babies at the swimming pool or in the grocery store of the same gender and dream of what my little one will look like. We didn't cry like others thought we would. I had my glasses on, and it was a dark room. The last thing I wanted was tears blocking my vision of this little person swimming inside of me.

Intelligender Results

I wanted to share that I tried using Intelligender to determine my baby's gender. It has an 80% accuracy rate, and many people have told me it was completely wrong with their pregnancies.

I had to mix a measured urine sample into the bottle with prefilled chemical crystals. I swirled the mixture and had to wait ten minutes. I was on the phone with my husband when I checked on the results. Orange supposedly means girl and green means boy. We will soon find out if this test works.

I normally wouldn't have wasted the money on this OTC test kit, but there was a hefty in store savings coupon at Walgreens. I just couldn't pass it up.

9 Week Baby Ultrasound

I forgot to put my ultrasound picture up. The baby's head is near the bottom with the body on the top left.

Design Rehaul

I completely changed my theme and colors on the blog tonight. I felt the old black and red theme was getting a bit outdated. I'm now using a bright rainbow design. I want to create a header graphic later, and I might tweak the design a little more before I'm satisfied.  I just wanted a girlier look.

14 Weeks 6 Days Pregnant

Today, I am 14wks6dys pregnant. My early symptoms of sleeping all day long, getting headaches due to glucose drops, and my food aversions are all a thing of the past. Just the smell of some food items in my fridge caused me to lose my appetite. I'm still peeing all the time, and now my lower back hurts randomly throughout each day.

I'm not really showing a baby bump, but I am showing. The organs in my belly are getting pushed up and out. I'm retaining lots of water and pumping lots of blood throughout my body. Veins are getting bigger and more visible under my skin. It's actually quite gross as I hate seeing veins. Body hair grows faster too. I shave my legs and the next day there's stubble. I know, TMI.

My feet are also swelling. My big brother got married two days ago, and I did a little too much dancing. My feet looked like Shrek's feet.

I woke up feeling hungover the morning after even though I was only drinking orange juice all night. They say the second trimester is the golden era of pregnancy, and I can see why. The symptoms from 1T fade and your body isn't as big as a whale like in the 3T. So far, so good!

Baby Gender Reveal

My husband has begged me to update my blog. I am pleased to announce that we will be finding out the gender of our baby on Thursday, June 24th. I had originally scheduled it for Friday, but my husband found out he has Thursday off as well! So, we can go in a day early! Woo hoo!

We are not the type of couple that wants to be surprised at birth to find gender. I can't stand buying yellow and green clothing and yarn. We picked out gender neutral basics like strollers and car seats because we hope to use them in the future regardless of gender. Other items really need that special touch. Little girls should be more whimsical and little boys should be more sporty. This is our opinion, and we have no problem with parents that give Barbies to their sons and what not.

Anyway, we will share the gender news at my family's 4th of July party/reunion. I am baking cupcakes with white frosting on top. They're themed to go with Independence Day. My mom will help me inject either blue or pink frosting inside each one. She won't know the gender until I tell her what dye to drop into the mix. My family will all get a cupcake to bite into at the same time. My husband's job prevents him from being there on a holiday, so I will spread the joy by myself. I just hate secrets!
